EXPERIENCE

Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (Vocational Solutions, Inc.)
Self employed Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC) providing case management services to injured workers in the worker’s compensation system.  Case load management between 20-30 injured workers including task assignments in medical case management, job site evaluations and job placement assistance.

Minnesota Rehabilitation Manager (CorVel Corporation)
Manager of the Minnesota operations for on site field case management Qualified Rehabilitation Consultants (QRC).  QRC experience working with industrially injured adults to assist them in returning to their previous employer or securing new employment.  Duties include medical case coordination, vocational case coordination, health education/self-care teaching, job seeking skills training, and job development/job search assistance.  Other accomplishments: caseload management of 30-35 clients; network with physicians, employers, clients, lawyers, human service agencies, rehabilitation facilities, and other professionals, in order to provide quality case management; participate in a team approach to problem solve and brainstorm with other consultants on complex and difficult cases.  Oversee financial operations and budgeting.  Work closely with marketing and upper level management in the support and growth of CorVel in Minnesota. Supervised and managed South Dakota operations for 8 years developing and managing state wide managed care operations.  Also successfully merged the acquisition of a major rehabilitation firm in South Dakota bringing together 2 competitor firms.

Sr. Safety Specialist – Ground Operations Employee Injury Prevention (Northwest Airlines)
Work with all Ground Operations managers, Risk Management and employees in prevention and management of occupational injuries.  Provide station manager training and facilitation of case management for return to work. Focus on prevention of occupational injuries in projects including Healthy Back Strengthening program for MSP, DTW and MEM, Pre Employment Screening, OSHA and Worker’s Compensation Training programs, new manager training classes, annual safety training, and development of occupational injury testimonial videos.  Develop post injury proactive return to work plans with all stations to manage lost workdays.  Provide 24-hour pager support for all stations to assist in the injury management needs at the time of the accident.  Meet with hubs and gateways to ensure forward movement on injuries not yet returned to the work place.   Developed an employee injury brochure for all Ground Operations employees.  Developed Ground Operations safety posters relating to the highest injury causation.  Provide injury analysis information management and stations for prevention, planning, cost justifications and budgeting.

Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (Rehabilitation Consultants for Industry)
Duties included: medical case coordination, vocational case coordination, health education/self-care teaching, job seeking skills training, and job development/job search assistance.  Other accomplishments: caseload management of 25-30 clients; independently developed an in-house vocational testing program; assisted in the purchase and training of computerized vocational assessment software; and independently researched and purchased software designed to cross reference academic and interest test results for job goal development (GATB-COPS Sort).

Vocational Evaluator (Opportunity Workshop)
Duties included: community-based and in-house evaluation, work adjustment, skill training, and placement of clients.  Specialized in head injured clients, mostly for community-based evaluation and placement.  Received promotion to case manager, after working as an evaluator for 4-1/2 months.

Educational Graduate Assistant (Office of Educational Strategies)
Graduate Assistant for an Educational Strategies Project.  Responsibilities included: assisting special needs English students to utilize microcomputer software applications for learning units/word processing; reported to, and staffed with, project coordinator; supervised microcomputer lab; managed/scheduled 8 work study students; and knowledgeable in IBM and Apple personal computers.
